With cross country season in full swing, the day dawned of the qualifiers for the British and Irish Masters - International Cross Country event. The leading men and women in a range of age groups would be selected to represent Ireland from those participating in the qualifying races in Abbottstown in the Irish Autumn Open. They would later be travelling to Scotland to represent Ireland in the prestigous event.
The Irish course was tough, it had a long drag of a hill with the going underfoot from Lea's perspective being firm to soft. The men's event in Lea's category raced a distance of 8km and the course was a 2km loop, so that lead to some areas of the course being softened over time with the amount of through traffic by way of sweaty competitors battling it out, vying for positions.
Plant Based AC was represented by Lea on the day, competing in the Mens M50 event where he had a very successful race - qualifying in third place. This guaranteed him a place on the Irish team. Congratulations to Lea, doing the club proud!
