On a warm sun filled Thursday evening in Dublin, Plant Based AC was represented in the Docklands Corporate 5k race, which was sponsored by JP Morgan and hosted by Crusaders AC.
Over 2,000 entrants took to the streets to compete in this prestigious event. The Docklands 5k is a flat course, raced around the upper quays of Dublin city centre, which has been renovated and regenerated over the past 20 years, making for a spectular setting with boats and kayaks in the river Liffey. The Liffey is in the centre of the course as the race route traverses either side of it along the wide streets of the quays, which are filled with pubs, bars and restaurants, dotted between the numerous corporate offices which line the streets in the area. The pubs were packed with spectators, reveling in the enthusiasm of the competitors warming up for the event.
Plant Based AC was represented with Rachel returning home in 10th place overall in the women's field, winning her age category. Well done to all athletes who competed, to Crusaders AC for organising such a fantastic event and to the Gardaà and all the volunteers who helped to make it such a special evening.
