On a blustery, fresh Thursday evening, Plant Based AC was ready to race the prestigous #docklands5k race. It is a very popular race, with over 2,000 entries each year. The course is held on the Dublin docks and is one of the flattest 5km race courses in Dublin. It is hugely popular not only with running club but also with corporate teams. Sponsored by #jpmorgan it generally gets underway at 19:45, with streets shut off to traffic to give racers the best possible race experience.
#myrunresults were at the helm for this race and it got underway smoothly. Our athletes sprinted away quickly on the start gun and tore down the quays before reversing direction on the far side.
The streets were lined with spectators and support crew, numerous marshals were in place to ensure everyone stayed on course safely.
The sun stayed out and the rain stayed away for the duration of this years event and our athletes returned to the finish line sufficiently warm from their efforts!
Lea raced around the quays, securing a prize for second place in the M50 category in a time of 16:26.
Rachel returned home with a new PR of 17:55 for 5km. She was fourth female home, winning a prize as the highly competitive race pays out for the top six males and females home. She also secured first F40 home and was a member of the third place corporate team! A good days racing all round for Plant Based AC competitors!
Well done to #crusadersac #jpmorgan #dublingardai #myrunresults and all those involved behind the scenes in making it such a successful event.
